21 Day Racial Equity Challenge

Since 2017, we have participated in FSNE's "21 Day Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge." As part of this, our pastor, Rev. Sara has contributed to their blog as well as created handbooks as OWC specific resources.

This yearly commitment pairs with our communal core value of Racial Equity & Social Justice along with our investment in food justice for our community. This work seeks " to normalize the conversation about race and racism. We believe it benefits us all to have greater collective capacity to identify and address the different manifestations of racism (internalized, interpersonal, institutional, and structural).

This exercise, originally developed by Dr. Eddie Moore, Jr. and Debby Irving, is about creating dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of power, privilege, and leadership. Participation in an activity like the Racial Equity Challenge helps people learn how to engage the complex problems that exist in the food system, and become better leaders."
